Crested Butte, Colorado, was the #8th ski resort visited this year. MauiSkiBus did not visit this famous extreme mountain in 2012. Really did not have it on the tour for 2015. Reason? Support. Why visit? Scoldings from so many top notch skiers that MauiSkiBus had not been to the Butte. So back to the support.
The marketing department did not support MauiSkiBus in 2012 nor did they express an interest in the 2015 adventure. Crusty Butt, as MauiSkiBus has heard many call this ski destination, did not have any crust when MauiSkiBus entered the tropical ski bum butt in the main patrol hut. A wonderful welcome was given by the patrollers and the tropical playing cards were a big hit. One of the head patrollers, Frank, summers in Molokai, and invited MauiSkiBus to ski some runs with his rocket fast lady, Josephine. Miss Josephine invited MauiSkiBus to a Crested Butte City Chamber of Commerce party. Many of the members had seen MauiSkiBus in town and were a bit unhappy that the marketing department was not supportive.
A bit of another warm welcome in Crested Butte came from Creekside Spa, as Andi set MauiSkiBusFranklin up with some electric for heat on a -15 below winter night. Warmth for MauiSkiBus comes in many different ways, from the Crested Butte lot attendant that pointed out to every guest the Hawaii plates on MauiSkiBus, skiing with ski patrollers, invitations to private parties, electric plug in on a frigid, to Crested Butte locals giving a thumbs up to MauiSkiBus.
