First article next week

The first article on MauiSkiBus.com will be out next week in the Lahaina News. Mark Vieth, the editor, did an excellant job on writing the article and the photo. I am sure there will be more.

This Sunday Oct., 23rd., will be my 16th attempt to finish the Xterra World Championship Mountain Bike Triathlon. The race has a new course at the Ritz for Xterra and there have been big tiger sharks in that area before. Plus the possibility of big nasty surf. Oh, if it rains, the bike and run course will be slick as slick ice and the mud does not come off the bike tires or  shoes. What the weather gods or Goddess’s provide to us will be perfect conditions, as I believe that the weather is always perfect. It is what it is. By the way, Lance Armstrong will be there too.

MauiSkiBus.com should be leaving Maui on Nov. 4th with an arrival Nov. 18th in Los Angeles. A few days there and then off to Mammoth, then Tahoe. Let it snow.

Stereo up and working

MauiSkiBus.com now has a working stereo system that ROCKS! Four speakers hidden in the dance floor will echo at the 100 different ski resorts that we plan to visit this winter. Brudda IZ will sound so sweet in the mountain snow resorts. Then a little Pink Floyd, or some sub-liminal hypnotic music from a sponsor, Bright Images, then let’s hear some ol’ Blue Eyes, Frankie baby!

Sept. 8th,2011

MauiSkiBus.com spen the last week at Westside Foreign Auto Repair, where Randy, Joey, and John-John went through all the mechanical parts. We replaced anything that looked like it needed to be new, especially the brakes.
MauiSkiBus.com will be at the start of the Hana Relays on Sat., Sept. 10th and at the Wailea Jazz/Blues Fest, Fri. Sept. 24th . The Hana Relays will have over 700 runners and the Jazz/Blues Fest will have over a thousand spetators. HawaiionTV.com will be doing some photo shoots. These will be the first of many public appearances.

Two months until MauiSkiBus.com is shipped to Los Angeles. A few days will be spent there, for Bev Hills and Malibu, then off to Mammoth. I contacted Joanna there and she said Mammoth is open to give support. So the first ski resort is behind MauiSkiBus.com, 99 more to go. I should make a song about this!

Los Angeles to Maui Windsurf

In 1986, I read an article in Reader’s Digest about a man that kayaked from San Diego to Maui. I decided that if he could kayak that far, I could windsurf that far. Hence the idea for Da Slippa and then Da Slippa II, which where custom opean ocean going windsurfers that I built here on Maui.
I envisioned smearing “a handful of sand” all over my face, and that came to fruition at sunset on Ka’anapali Beach, Maui, Sept. 3rd., 1997. A total of 47 days at sea alone, a windsurf trip from LA to Maui unescorted.

MauiSkiBus.com is currently having some tender loving care at Westside Foreign Auto Repair, by Randy, Joey, and John-John, of course being overseen by Shannon. Any potentials are being replaced and no mechanical problems have been found.
Two months before departure and counting.
