So far, MauiSkiBus.com has been recieving great support from Mountain High Resort in Big Bear, CA.; Mammoth Mountain, CA.; Squaw Valley, CA.; China Peak, CA.; Brianhead, Utah; Snowbowl, Arizona; Red River, New Mexico, and is in communication with the Aspen Resorts, Aspen, Colorado. We have skied five resorts so far and will have more coming this weekend in the Taos area of New Mexico.
As more media publicity follws MauiSkiBus.com, more resorts will be open to support this adventure to ski 100 different western USA/Canada ski resorts with a Maui tropical flair, our exposure is small. I must add that Franklin is now part of the Ski Patrol at Snowbowl, AZ., as he was a hit hiking up a 2,000 vertical foot slope and then running down. The World’s Strongest Dachshund mix is now part of the Ski Patrol!

You can do it all in Vegas…even ski! Today we skiied Las Vegas and it was a fun and friendly place. The parking attendant Steve and ski patrol Greg were super nice to us. Suggest next time you are in Vegas, give skiing a try.

After a hike up the hill (thanks to Greg the ski patrol) Steve got in 900 vertical feet At Las Vegas Ski Resort (total so far is about 23,863 vert/ft)…resort number 3 (97 more to go).

It was a blue-sky-sunny-day at Las Vegas Ski Resort

Life on the road is fun, you meet nice people and the dogs just love the frequent stops along the way. We stopped at beautifulWalker lake off of I95 and the dogs had a nice swim.
Gykaiya (native Hawaiian dog) is enthralled by mainland moles!

- Laura and Cliffs West Tahoe pad
Laura and Cliff Ward were very excited when MauiSkiBus came to their West Shore Tahoe home. Cliff was a gracious host and Laura cooked us a fantastic meal (one to remember). While Steve and Cliff did their time in front of the bloob-tube (tv), Carolyn and Laura compared notes on their nursing experiences and adventures.

total feet skiied so far: around 22,963 feet
So, the “Tropical Ski Bum” adventure has started, MauiSkiBus.com left Maui {11/04/2011} on the Matson barge and two weeks later arrived in LA. A few days there getting suppiles and off to Big Bear, CA. for a hike up and a ski down, as the conditions there did not warrant buying a lift ticket. 1 down, 99 to go.
From there is was off to Mammoth, CA. to get my brand new set of Fischer skis, bindings, and boots. Travis at Footloose Sports in Mammoth did an excellant job fitting the boots and Tony, Andrea, and Shirley were awesome too. I have been into numerous ski shops and I believe that this is one of the best that I have ever seen. Skied there on decent early season snow conditions with Carolyn part of the day and then on my own to get some vertical feet in.
After a five hour drive to Tahoe, we were able to check-in the Olympic Village Inn in Squaw Valley, Lake Tahoe. There is not that much snow here, so I will take the oppurtunity to do projects on MauiSkiBus.com. The dogs are doing fine and love the snow. Gykaiya really comes alive in the snow and both {Franklin}are protecting MauiSkiBus.com when we are not there.
